Bag Envy

For a long time I have been wanting a new camera bag. The camera bag I have at the moment was previously the home for a camcorder. It works, just. But not really. I really need something more suitable. The problem is that most camera bags in stores in Australia are, well, ugly.

I need a bag that is heavy duty, sturdy, comfortable, has room for spare size 4 clothes, 3-4 hats. drink bottles, snacks, dummies, a book or two, a couple of toys, tissues, bandaids, 2 pairs of sunglasses, keys,  pens, spare paper and a mobile phone. Oh, and also a dslr camera, a couple of lenses, a remote shutter release, a cleaning pen, and maybe occasionally an ipad or 3 (the kids now need them for school).

So yes, sturdy is definitely important.

However, I want it to be pretty too.

Seeing as I am a maximiser* I have a huge need to research extensively before purchase, and below are some of the ones I have found.

Tulip by Kettie bags - $210 USD

Rose Moss by Jototes - $89 USD

Missy Chocolate by Jototes - $119 USD
Ketti Bag - $210 USD

Lua Handbags Turqoise Owl - $175 USD

Noir Tote by Jo Totes - $89 USD

What do you think? Do you already own a camera bag that you are happy with? If so, please share!
Which would you choose?

* Maximisers are people who feel the need to maximise their purchases and decisions, by doing as much research as possible for acting. The opposite of an impulse buyer. I am a maximiser about 95% of the time. The other 5% of the time I am an impulse buyer.
I need to work on moderation and try and find a happy medium.

  1. I wonder if there is a Mattt bag that would suit you? www.mattt.com.au - made in melbourne. (But of the listed options, I think the wider base on the chocolate one would offer more room, esp for the camera.

    1. Thanks for the link - very nice! However, they don't seem to be specifically designed for cameras and lenses. Although I am aware that on a practical note I will end up carrying all the miscellaneous items needed for my little people, I want a bag that is specifically designed as primarily a camera bag, and am yet to find an australian designer and/or manufacturer. Still hunting though!

  2. With that list of contents it sounds as if you need a suitcase! Will you be taking a handbag as well, or just the one multi-tasker?
I would definitely be looking for an easy clean exterior, light empty-weight and, as another maximiser, I would find it hard to buy these online without handling them. Is there a point in buying a cheap Kmart bag until you discover the one you really want?

  7. They're all so lovely! I'd either go for the Rose Moss or the Noir Tote. You've inspired me to look into getting one too!
