Point + Shoot

I've been really desperate for a holiday, to get escape from the dreary, cold weather we have been having here. But for a range of timing, and budgetary issues, it is just not a good idea.

This Sunday when we woke up, we talked about all the things we 'should' do. Then we decided that they could wait for a cold dreary day.  The day was already showing the glimmers of senseless beauty, and we needed to get out. So we declared it a beach day.

We decided to head to Mornington. Why? Because we hadn't been there before. We had no idea whether it would be nice or not, had done no research. We jumped in the car and drove.

We drove and drove. Then at Seaford we saw a sign for Farmers Markets. I can't go past Farmers Markets. So we pulled over. The farmer's markets had the best home grown, hand picked mandarins we had ever tasted. We bought some home grown avocados. We also bought quite a few tiny, decadent, cupcakes. Yum.

Then we headed across the road to the beach. It was divine. It had great sand, a pier, and a beautiful tide pool had developed that called to the children to play in and explore. It was also slightly less freezing than the rest of the ocean! I had fun photographing them and their reflections in it. We didn't make it to Mornington - maybe next time :)

Where is your favourite place to holiday?
What is your favourite beach?
What is your favourite thing to do when you can't go on a holiday?

  1. Hello Sannah

I have a few favourite beaches
Mainly anywhere in Northern New South Wales for me - that is where I am intending on living one day (sooner rather than later I hope).

I love Nobby's Beach on the Gold Coast - it is still very trendy and not too far from anywhere if you want to be in the midst of the coast throng. But we love it a bit quieter and more elegant. (not souvenir shops in your face :)

Your photos as usual as wonderful - I adore the reflection one you captured and love the men on the jetty too.

take care and have a great day

  2. Those photos are simply stunning Susannah! Stunning! Sunday was the perfect day to get outside in the sunshine. We went to a park with friends, Mr FGB lost his sunglasses, we thought we lost Bear and then took about half an hour to find the car keys.... I think the beach may have been a better option.... your day looks glorious! Anywhere outside is fine by me on a beautiful sunny day.

  3. We will holiday anywhere there is water, a pool, lake, ocean, you name it, we'll be happy. Living in Darwin was torture in parts as you had to watch out for box jelly fish, crocodiles & sharks, honestly, such a tease in that hot weather. Even some of the lakes & water holes had huge wild (as in cranky) snapper fish in them, you just couldn't win. How did you keep your children dry, mine will swim if it's 10C outside, no fear or feelings. Love Posie

  7. Can't say I'm really partial to an beaches as such in the UK. We do however have a lot of fun at Crosby beach on Merseyside where Anthony Gormley's Iron Men reside. There are 100 of them and they are placed at different points up and down the beach and heading out to sea, so when the tide comes in they gradually disappear, only to gradually reappear once the tide turns and heads beck out.

The place I would most like to go back to on holiday would be Prague, and I have always wanted to go on an African Safari, so I can see my favourite elephants!
