I went to the markets today. They make me happy.
Amongst the pyramids of fruit, I saw a row of mangos. MANGOS!!!
I took a darling mango home. It had no scent. I sliced it open. Its flesh was bright yellow. I bit into this mango and it was sour. Sour as an off lemon.
But I didn't care. It made me stupidly happy.
When Mangos begin to appear in the shops, it means only one thing - summer is just around the corner!!
Fruit lady said they are expecting peaches and nectarines next month. Life is good.

ReplyDeleteI'm not being very good at being wordless am i?
I love your ambition girlfriend! but - bit too early yet for the mangos
slice it up and place it in the oven in a dish with a bit of sugar sprinkled over and walnuts - it should stew and taste nice after about 20 mins
take care

OH mangoes, we used to have a mango tree in our garden in Darwin, well a few actually. Tip for when they are about to finish the season - chop off all the flesh & freeze it, a magical fruit you can freeze!! Fantastic as a dessert or in smoothies, yummo, love Posie
ReplyDeleteYes, I agree with posiepatchwork, freezing mangoes is the best! I haven't been game to try the mangoes that are out, and after reading your post, I think I will wait a little bit longer.
ReplyDeleteStone fruit in summer makes me happy too.
